Alissa WahidThe Wahid Institute

Alissa Wahid is a Psychologist and a daughter of Indonesia’s former President, Gusdur. She has previously experienced manager of various projects concerning socail issues and community organizing/development. Two of her numerous projects are 17an and Kemah Persaudaraan Anak Bangsa. 17n is twitter-based campaign about love of Indonesia. 17an has been a huge success, attracting thousands twitter to tweet Indonesia. Kemah persaudaraan Anak Bangsa (Camp) is developed as a base for building the Komunitas Anak Bangsa Yogyakarta. In 2011 camp, 200 students from 20 religion-based high-school (Islam, Catholic, Christian) were invited to work together to promote principle of unity in diversity.  The community has since developed theater show, and youth campaign. Alissa was graduated with M.Sc. from Gajah Mada University, Yogyakarta. Currently, she works as National Coordinator at GUSDURian Network Indonesia, Vice Chairperson for Family Welfare program at Nadlatul Ulama – Lembaga Kemaslahatan Keluarga and owner and Director at PT Amalan Baik. Alissa has been inspiring Indonesia’s youth in her involvement in Building Tolerance activities.

UNESCO

Mr Mikel Aguirre Idiaquez is the Project Officer of the UNESCO Youth Programme in Indonesia, which aims to build the capacity of young women and men, members of grass-roots youth organizations on youth-led advocacy, leadership and community engagement, providing the youth with the necessary knowledge to contribute to their communities through active participation. Mr Mikel was born in Bilbao, Spain in 1984. Journalist by training, he got his Bachelor Degree in Communication in 2006, he worked in the Basque Country’s Public Broadcasting Service for four years as reporter, news editor and broadcaster. In 2010, he graduated from a Master’s Degree on Development Studies by the University of the Basque Country, and in 2011 he joined the UNESCO Jakarta Office assisting in the implementation of the programmes under the Social and Human Sciences and Communication and Information Sectors. Through the Youth Programme in Indonesia, that Mikel is coordinating, UNESCO has supported Youth Participation and Civic Engagement in Indonesia through revising and assessing the existing youth policies and mapping youth organizations in the country. This endeavour includes support to youth led initiatives throughout the archipelago and capacity building of young men and women on leadership, civic engagement and participation.

US Embassy Jakarta

Mr. Ted Lyng is a Ted LyngPolitical Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Indonesia. He has previously served abroad in Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Guangzhou, and Moscow. He speaks Indonesian, Chinese, and Russian. He graduated with an M.A. from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a B.A. from Cornell University.

Muhammad_Iman_UsmanThe Founder of Indonesian Future Leaders

Muhammad Iman Usman lahir di Padang pada tanggal 21 Desember 1991. Sejak kecil ia telah menunjukkan minat dan ketertarikannya pada dunia kerelawanan dan pengembangan masyarakat. Pada tahun 2008, Iman menerima penghargaan Pemimpin Muda Indonesia 2008 dari Presiden RI dan United Nations Youth Assembly Recognition on Humanitarian Development 2011 di New York, serta Mondialogo Junior Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue oleh DAIMLER dan UNESCO. Pada tahun 2009, Iman terpilih sebagai salah satu dari 10 anak di dunia penerima penghargaan World Youth Achiever Recognition oleh Friendship Ambassador Foundation Amerika Serikat dan terpilih sebagai Penasehat Remaja United Nations Population Fund Indonesia. Prestasi Iman lainnya pada tahun 2010 adalah terpilih sebagai Duta Muda ASEAN dan mewakili Indonesia untuk G-20 My Summit di Toronto, Kanada. Dalam kesempatan itu, ia berpidato di hadapan Youth Assembly PBB. Selain itu, ia juga terpilih sebagai penerima penghargaan Microsoft Bloggership 2011, yaitu penghargaan yang diberikan oleh Microsoft setiap tahunnya bagi blogger muda yang berpikiran maju dan terbuka, serta peduli pada isu-isu edukasi serta pemanfaatan teknologi bagi peningkatan kualitas SDM dan pemberdayaan masyarakat.

Setamat SMA di Padang, Iman melanjutkan pendidikannya ke FISIP Universitas Indonesia jurusan Ilmu Hubungan Internasional. Pada bulan Mei 2012, Iman berhasil terpilih sebagai Mahasiswa Berprestasi Utama UI 2012, dan pada bulan Juli pada tahun yang sama ia juga menyabet gelar Mahasiswa Berprestasi Tingkat Nasional. Tahun 2009, Iman bersama 7 pemuda Indonesia lainnya mendirikan Indonesian Future Leaders, sebuah organisasi anak muda yang mempunyai visi untuk menjadikan generasi muda Indonesia sebagai generasi yang kompeten pada bidang yang ditekuninya, dapat membawa perubahan positif, dan menjadi inspirasi bagi lingkungannya. Prestasi Iman lainnya adalah terpilih sebagai salah satu nominasi Kick Andy Heroes pada tahun 2012.

Iman menamatkan studi sarjananya di bidang Ilmu Hubungan Internasional, Universitas Indonesia, pada tahun 2012. Saat ini Iman bekerja sebagai Perwakilan Amerika Serikat untuk Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB) Internasional, sembari menjalankan studi pascasarjananya di bidang International Education Development, di Columbia University, New York, Amerika Serikat.
